"You've finally been granted your Pokémon trainer's license. Now, it's time to head out to become the world's greatest Pokémon trainer. It's going to take all you've got to collect 150 Pokémon in this enormous world. Catch and train monsters like the shockingly-cute Pikachu. Face off against Blastoise's torrential water canons. Stand strong when facing Pidgeot's stormy Gust. Trade with friends and watch your Pokémon evolve. Important - no single Pokémon can win it all. Can you develop the ultimate Pokémon strategy to defeat the eight GYM Leaders and become the greatest Pokémon Master of all time?" - Game Freak
In this special "151 Version," You'll be able to complete your Pokédex without the need to connect with other games via the game-link cable (though you totally still can)! Most of the game is left as "vanilla" as possible to remain as faithful to the original release as you remember it, though some text has been modified to no longer reference "real world" locations. However, this edition does not change difficulty, sprite-work, music, evolution methods, trainer parties, running speed, rebalance moves, modify typing or introduce anything new which might "modernize" or "fix problems" with the original release!
- All three starter Pokémon can be found in the wild.
- Wild Pokémon from Red are found in their corresponding areas.
- In-game trades offer the "trade-evolve" Pokémon, as well as alternate methods to receiving a few other special "gift" Pokemon.
- The Rocket Game Corner carries Fossils and Moon Stones, now
The Basic Idea
The additions here are meant only to replace the need for Game-Link Cables, a second Gameboy™ with a copy of another game, N64 Transfer-Pak™ or any event machines. All of the content that was peviously locked into those external connections has been added with appropriate context within the main game. This means that you can expect to have access to the same Pokémon, items and attacks "as-if" you had connected to all those peripherals... but nothing much more beyond that. Contextualizing the delivery for the content and making it so players do not need to keep read-me files, meant modifying some existing dialogue or shop inventory. Because the project sticks to the "what was available if you had all the peripherals" mantra so faithfully, players shouldn't expect any Pokémon to have new types or forms, or any modifications to the physical-special stats, etc. Players also should not expect any of their Pokémon to be able to learn any moves which they could not originally access, even with all the peripherals.
The ROM-hack file in the download section cannot be played by itself! It must be applied to an original, legit copy of this exact .gba rom: Pokemon - Blue Version (USA, Europe) (SGB Enhanced) - I cannot tell you where or how to find that exact titled rom (it cannot be a "Rev 1," and cannot be in any other language, etc.), but if you have a rom like this, check it using this link https://www.romhacking.net/hash, and compare the information it gives you to this info, here:
Database match: Pokemon - Blue Version (USA, Europe) (SGB Enhanced)
Database: No-Intro: Game Boy/Color (v. 20180815-131105)

If the information matches, then you can make the Blue 151 ROM:
- Unzip the .zip file to get to the .ips file.
- Put the Pokémon Blue 151.ips file and your copy of the Pokémon Blue .gba in a folder.
- Apply the patch (.ips file) to the game (.gba file) using only ONE of these two options:
- Online Patcher: https://www.romhacking.net/patch/
- Offline Patcher: https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/240
- The file created by the patcher is the full Pokémon Blue 151 patched game, and can now be played on your favorite GBC emulator or flashed to a cart! To be sure that the patch is applied correctly, look for Mew featured on the title screen. You can also check the current patch-version number on one of the computers in Game Freak's offices in Celadon City.
- 1.2.1: Added an optional "MissingNo Patch" to the download folder.
